Ok now for the next issue! As I start driving this car some things are popping up.

When I have the heat on there is a recurring smell that comes into the car that smells like burning rubber. Very acrid. Doesn’t smell like oil and I can’t find anything dripping onto the exhaust.

Yesterday this coincided with the fuel warning coming on as well, but no idea if it’s related.

Has anyone had the heater fan smell bad? Or perhaps had an electrical short somewhere?

Phil,

There is a resistor pack in the blower motor that controls the fan speed. It could be burning off accumulated dust. Or, it could be burning itself up. Or, the blower motor could be starting to pack it in. All of these are easy enough to fix. Remove the hush panel under the passenger side dash and there they are! I'd take the resistor pack out, turn on the blower and see if the smell comes from it first. Then I'd remove the blower motor and see if the smell comes from it.

Good luck,

Bob

Nice or mice piss?   They come in through the open cold air inlets.

Thank you, Steve.
