I cannot get the lower third of the plastic timing belt cover off of the front of the engine in order to get to the water pump. All the bolts are out, but between the front of the water pump where the pulley attaches and the upper right corner of the plastic piece that is trapped  between the block and the oil dip stick tube I am unable to bend or twist to get it off. I have already taken the power steering bracket off and that provided a little more freedom of movement but not enough to free the bottom third of the cover. Any tips?

I also planned to replace the timing belt. Tried to order off of an online mazda parts company but they replied that they did not have the part even though it was not listed as discontinued. What is second best for timing belts? RockAuto did not have the Continental brand in stock. They did have a brand called INI, which I had never heard of. So I would appreciate any opinions.

Thanks,
Mike R

Finally removed the plastic timing belt cover. It required some very careful maneuvering and judicious bending.
Ordered an Aisin water pump and a Dayco timing belt from Rock Auto
