3.7 Class Update Rotorua Sprints

Hi,

Mike, Alan and Paul cleaned up the Sprints. Mike and Alan were on equal points and Mike won only on greater number of races won. It was a great weekend with zero waiting between starts and the full 14 races completed. A mob of A-Class went across Silvana at high speed, unfortunately one misjudged and smashed into the rudder gantry near the end of Saturday, putting her out of the rest of racing, but she was not hurt. The wind felt fairly steady on Saturday but on Sunday was quite shifty with shifts up to 40 deg and I think some swirls of wind coming around alternate sides of Mt Ngongotaha. Most notably Mike Jones was capsized by one of them right on top of the top mark of the sausage near to the end when we were all tiring. John Elliott was on the water racing and the Swinney family nearly pulled off a full podium 1,2,3 in the first race. Mike Jones was rusty to start with and then just kept winning. Alan Swinney was fast throughout. Paul Carpenter was very consistent plus took one win and was cemented into third. The leading tri was closely chased by James with me attempting to keep up. Silvana, Ruth and Tim had their own battles going. At the end of each race everyone was still close together so there was no rest between races. Derek Scott and Tim Nasey kept us entertained off-water and Derek has kindly taken away the measurement jig cover for stitching the central seam. Dennis Shepherd and Keith Taylor were sharing race officer duties. Sunday night it was time for a rest.... If we can winkle out some photos I'll put them on book face.
