Hi from NC,  Bob just sent me an update of his time in Nepal.  There is a video attached as well.  Thank you for your prayers.  He arrives back in the US a week from today.  Please continue to pray for safe travels, wisdom, endurance, good health, and strength.  We hope you enjoy the info.  Love, Bobbie

Thank you for your prayers earlier this week when James and I went to Bardia.   It was a great trip.   The highlight came on Sunday night when, after sharing with the children, four of these precious little ones prayed to receive Jesus as their Savior.

Subin, Mimsara, and Prakriti (all eight years old), with ten-year-old, Shristi the morning after they prayed to receive Jesus....

Traveling to Bardia was not easy.   We ended up going a different way than planned due to roads that had been closed because of the heavy flooding earlier this summer.   After riding in a jeep for three hours, we took a small ferry (real small ferry) across part of the Karnali River to a little island in the middle of the river.   We walked for about 15 minutes and then took a second ferry to get to the other side.   Mohan had left our First Love Jeep (an old Indian vehicle) there and I drove it the final 2 hours to the children's home.  We did not need to use motorcycles this time.

It was extremely hot in Bardia.  The kids and staff are wonderful.   They are loving and sweet.   James and I spent a good share of our time conducting some marriage counseling with Mohan and Sushila who were married 6 weeks ago in Kathmandu.   They never really had a honeymoon as the day after the wedding, Mohan was told that the children's home was without electricity and he was concerned for the safety of the children and staff.   He and Sushila rushed to Bardia.   Sushila was sick for the first couple of weeks and was uncomfortable in the heat.   She wondered if she had made a mistake!   Anyway, all is well.  Everyone loves Sushila and she loves them.   She and Mohan are getting to know each other day by day as they had only met briefly before they were married.   When James and I went back to Nepalgunj to fly to Kathmandu, we took Mohan and Sushila with us and checked them into a nice hotel where they will stay for 3 days.   Please pray for this dear couple.

We left Bardia a day earlier than planned because we had a lot of other things to do this week and everything seemed to be fine there.   The ferry boat ride across the first part of the river going back was wild!   On a very small boat, James counted 100 people (all standing), 7 motorcycles, and about a dozen bicycles!   We were really crammed in there and could hardly move.   However, just before we pushed off, two men arrived with 50 goats and proceeded to throw them one by one on to the boat!   There were two or three pushing on the back of my legs and I was up against a motorcycle.   Another goat had his behind between my knees!   It was crazy.   I thought the boat was going to capsize as it was sitting only about 6 inches above the water.   As I got off the boat and started walking, Mohan noticed that my legs were covered with goat hair.   I looked like an old goat so to speak.

The view in front of me on the ferry.   I did not notice at the time that the guy on the left had on a life vest!

Here is our ferry boat after most of us were already off...

My car is now fixed.   The mechanics worked on it for several days after towing it to the garage.    Among other things, they replaced the master cylinder.   It only cost about $100 to fix!   Tomorrow morning at 6:00, James and I will be driving to Parshadhap for another "adventure".  We will return to Kathmandu after church on Saturday.  We would appreciate your continued prayers.

God bless you.

Bob (for Bobbie too)
