Dear Praying Friends,
Jaimasih!
I am preparing to depart tomorrow for India and then on to Nepal on July 31st. I return to the USA on August 14th, attend the wedding of my sister Debbie on August 31st and then return to India with Bobbie on September 3rd. Bobbie and I will be gone for a month before returning to the states to attend my parents' 70th wedding anniversary on October 6th in Rockford, IL. We will be hosting the work-team in India from September 14-29. Please pray for our 6-member team as they have much to accomplish in order for our children to move into the new home before the team departs! (By the way, we have received pledges of around $7,000 to help build the furniture, buy paint, and other "stuff". Our goal is $10,000, so there is still time to participate in this blessing:-)
Yes! Debbie is getting married! Her husband to be (Steve Kniep) attends the same church. She has known him for several years. We are happy for the two of them and look forward to welcoming Steve into our family.
We are excited about all that lies before us these next few weeks. On this first trip I will be spending a good deal of time with James and Sharon as we will be looking at establishing a South Asian Area Office for First Love in Nepal to oversea our ministry projects in India and Nepal, as well as potential future projects in Tibet, China, and Bhutan. I will also be going to Bardia in far-western Nepal for three days with James. There has been severe flooding in this area and the trip will not be easy. We appreciate your prayers as we go to encourage Mohan, Sushila, and the rest of the staff and children at our children's home there. We will also meet with the faculty at the school. To get to the children's home, we plan to fly from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj, take a 3-4 hour jeep ride to Tikapur, ride motorcycles to the river, take the motorcycles on little boats across the river, and then drive the motorcycles for another hour or so to get to the home. We pray it is not raining...
After returning to Kathmandu, James and I will take my car to Parshadhap to spend a couple of days with our staff and children there. I am especially looking forward to meeting with our senior project staff. We recently were able to buy another parcel of land for the senior project adjacent to the other parcel using funds that will be raised by my brother Tom as he runs his annual run on October 12th to raise money for the mission. Each year, Tom runs his age in miles and get pledges for each mile. Once again, his prayer is to raise over $100,000! Please pray for him that his body will hold up and that people will be generous in giving towards this annual event. Tom is 65 years old!
