Record breaker : The Jiaozhou Bay Bridge,  spanning 26.4 miles between Qingdao and Huang  Dao, will open for traffic  today.     Impressive : Testing on the  bridge was completed on Monday, and it is  expected to be opened to traffic for the first  time today.  A driver's dream  : Many miles of fresh untouched tarmac  stretch from Qingdao to Huang Dao.

Yes it is indeed longer than the Chesapeake Bay Bridge that connects the Southern Part of Virginia to the Eastern Shore.

The Chesapeake Bay Bridge is 18 miles long with two under water tunnels to allow ships to enter the Chesapeake Bay

from the Atlantic Ocean.  In turn, once the commercial ships then could unload or pick up loads from the Port of

Norfolk and Portsmouth in Virginia.  The U.S.Navy also uses the same to enter the biggest Naval Base at their

homeport in Norfolk.
