This is quite the engineering feat.

CHINA OPENS THE WORLD'S LONGEST BRIDGE

But don't  think about crossing it on foot, it's the length  of a marathon ... at 26.4  miles long, it is five miles  further than the distance  between Dover and  Calais !!!

The Jiaozhou Bay Bridge links China's  eastern port city of Qingdao to the offshore  island, Huang Dao.

A bridge over misty waters  : The immense structure which is supported by  more than 5,000 pillars.
Engineering feat : The vast  bridge, the largest cross-ocean bridge in the  world, took four years to  build.

Lengthy : The bridge  stretches into the distance further than the eye  can see and right, the first few cars roll out  across the surface.

Open road : Drivers pass  through the mist as they make some of the first  passes over the 110ft wide bridge which is  longer than any others of its  kind.

Don't keep me hanging : The  suspension beams form an imposing sight as the  reach through the clouds and look down upon  colourful flags marking the bridge's grand  opening.

Record breaker : The Jiaozhou Bay Bridge,  spanning 26.4 miles between Qingdao and Huang  Dao, will open for traffic  today.

Impressive : Testing on the  bridge was completed on Monday, and it is  expected to be opened to traffic for the first  time today.

A driver's dream  : Many miles of fresh untouched tarmac  stretch from Qingdao to Huang Dao.

Yes it is indeed longer than the Chesapeake Bay Bridge that connects the Southern Part of Virginia to the Eastern Shore.

The Chesapeake Bay Bridge is 18 miles long with two under water tunnels to allow ships to enter the Chesapeake Bay

from the Atlantic Ocean.  In turn, once the commercial ships then could unload or pick up loads from the Port of

Norfolk and Portsmouth in Virginia.  The U.S.Navy also uses the same to enter the biggest Naval Base at their

homeport in Norfolk.

HAPPY THANKSIVING….

I am proud of this accomplishment of the Chinese. Know something?
Many Filipinos have Chinese ancestry.

And that is a definite TRUTH. I for one supposedly has a great grandparent
whose
name is well recognized around the world. His name and occupation?
Dr. Foo Ling Yu
