It is likely that Inter Milan will let striker Romelu Lukaku return to Chelsea after the 2022/23 season when the loan contract between the two sides expires.
Inter did not activate the option to buy Lukaku outright
In the summer of 2022, Romelu Lukaku joined Inter Milan on loan from Chelsea. The Belgian player considers the blue and black striped team to be the right place for him and does not hide his desire to devote here for a long time.
However, Lukaku is often injured and has not contributed much for Inter Milan this season. Since the beginning of the season, the striker born in 1993 has only had 8 starts and scored only 4 goals in all competitions.

Lukaku's contributions to Inter Milan this season have been quite limited.
Italian media reported that Inter Milan are planning to let Lukaku return to Chelsea after this season ends instead of activating the buy-out clause. However, the Serie A team has not made a final decision but will rely on the performance of the 29-year-old striker from now until the end of the season.
Lukaku himself did not want to return to Chelsea because he knew he would not be welcome. In the 2021/22 season, he was a big disappointment in the blue shirt even though the Blues spent up to £ 97 million to recruit him.
Besides professional issues, Lukaku also made the fans hot when he stated that he missed Inter when he felt he could not promote himself at Chelsea.
Chelsea also have no intention of using Lukaku in the future. In the event that Inter Milan refused to buy it outright, the Blues accepted to sell the Belgian striker at a loss to another team.
