Graham Potter: Lukaku's failure proves money can't solve problems
After the end of the winter transfer window, Chelsea faced Fulham and were held to a 0-0 draw. It was the match where Kai Havertz was missing while Aubameyang was completely eliminated from the team.
And coach Graham Potter thinks the failure of the Romelu Lukaku deal could be a warning that money can't solve Chelsea's problems.
“The team needs to improve. If you look at 18 months ago, from the outside looking in, Chelsea didn't score and they thought spending £100m on a striker like Lukaku would fix all the problems. But the problem is not solved. The whole team needs to attack better and that is our challenge. That's what we need to do."
When asked how long it takes Chelsea's new recruits to bond, Potter replied: "It would be a lie if I could give you a deadline. If I could stay for a month for every time I was asked this question, I would be here for the next five years.”
Chelsea is temporarily standing at 9th place in the Premier League table. Graham Potter's army is 6 points away from the European Cup group. Chelsea's next opponent is West Ham.
