Edu left Arsenal last week to take a new job at Nottingham Forest under chairman Evangelos Marinakis, meaning Arsenal will need to find a replacement for the Brazilian director.

Arsenal are monitoring Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro as a potential replacement for Edu. Scuro joined Monaco last summer and has built a squad that finished second in Ligue 1 and qualified for the Champions League.

The Brazilian director is known to be a tough negotiator. Human relations, a sense of belonging and organisation are three key concepts in his football philosophy.

Thiago Scuro used to work as sporting director at Red Bull Bragantino club in Brazil.

Replacing Edu at Arsenal is a tough job. The mark Edu left during Arsenal's strong rise in the Premier League in recent years is extremely strong.

Edu has built a strong squad for Arsenal and brought them the ability to compete for the championship. Unfortunately, the London team has only finished second in the Premier League for the last two consecutive seasons. In the last summer transfer window, Arsenal only bought Riccardo Calafiori and have had problems competing with their rivals this season.

After 11 rounds of the Premier League this season, Arsenal is in 4th place, 9 points behind the leader Liverpool. In the Champions League, Arsenal is also struggling in 12th place.
