Fw: Annoucing UNITAID discontinuation of PMTCT Funding |
| |
|
Dear all
As you may be aware, the commodities for the national PMTCT Program has been basically coming through the UNITAID support. Unfortunately the email below from UNICEF Headquarters, this has been discontinued and countries have been called to effect transitioning to other sources of funding post-UNITAID. Attached excel sheet also show that the only remaining commodities are the CD4 reagents expected in March 2012, otherwise the rest have been shipped to the National Medical Stores. May I therefore call upon the Logistics subcommittee of the NAC to urgently convene a meeting to discuss the way forward.
Thanks

Annoucing UNITAID discontinuation of OMTCT Funding |
| |
|
Dear Colleagues,
I wanted to take the opportunity to share with you the status of the UNICEF/WHO proposal to extend the PMTCT 2 (on behalf of CAR, Haiti, Lesotho, Myanmar, Swaziland, Uganda and Zimbabwe) and the Nutrition (Malawi, Rwanda, Tanzania and Zambia) Components of the UNITAID PMTCT Initiatives. We submitted an extension proposal which was reviewed by the UNITAID's Board on 2011 but the Board decision was not to continue funding - meaning discontinuation at the end of the two projects in June 2011.
For many of the countries this entails work ahead to sustain the steady adoption of the revised treatment guidelines as well as to effect transitioning to other sources of funding post-UNITAID. At present, deliveries of the PMTCT funded commodities under the PMTCT 2 Initiative extends into 2012 for CAR, China, Haiti, Myanmar, Nigeria, Uganda and Zimbabwe. Deliveries for Lesotho, Swaziland and the four Nutrition countries is complete. A final programmatic/financial report will go to UNITAID upon payment of the final invoice (following the last delivery), expected for Q4 2012.
For PMTCT 1 Extension Component (on behalf of Cameroon, Cote d'Ivoire, India, Malawi, Rwanda, Tanzania and Zambia) - this project also came to an end on 30 December 2011. Deliveries under this Initiative extend into 2012. Again, a final programmatic/financial report will go to UNITAID upon payment of the final invoice (following the last delivery), expected for Q4 2012.
Please do let us know if we can answer any more questions for you and your team and as always, thanks for your patience.
