Dear Members,

Warm greetings from Poorvam. We hope you are all doing well.

We are delighted to introduce Poorvam to this community and to begin a conversation with fellow scholars, researchers, writers, artists and independent thinkers whose work engages with culture, literature, philosophy and the intellectual traditions of South Asia and beyond.

About Poorvam

Poorvam — International Journal of Creative Arts and Cultural Expressions (PIJCACE) is an independent, open-access, double-blind peer-reviewed scholarly journal published by Dhvani Publication. The journal provides a multidisciplinary platform for research and critical inquiry across creative arts, aesthetics, philosophy, literature, performance traditions, religion, cultural history and transcultural expressions.

The journal holds ISSN 3107-6866 (Online) and uses the Crossref DOI prefix 10.63752/pijcace

Our published work is currently discoverable through Dimensions, OpenAlex, PhilPapers and Google Scholar, with the journal also represented in ISSN International Centre/ROAD, Crossref and WorldCat, among other library and scholarly catalogues.

Alongside the journal, we are developing Poorvam Ideas as a more accessible space for shorter intellectual and creative contributions—allowing ideas, narratives and reflections to reach readers beyond the conventional academic article.

Call for Contributions — Poorvam Ideas

For our forthcoming series, we are inviting contributions exploring:

Folklore · Mythology · Oral Traditions · Cultural Memory · Epic Traditions · Contemporary Reinterpretations of Traditional Narratives

We welcome:

  • Essays and critical reflections
  • Translations
  • Commentaries
  • Interviews
  • Visual essays
  • Creative or scholarly pieces
  • Multi-part essays belonging to a connected series

We are particularly interested in work that considers how stories, myths, memories and traditions are transmitted across generations and communities, and how inherited narratives are remembered, transformed and reinterpreted in the contemporary world.

We warmly welcome contributions from scholars, researchers, writers, artists, independent researchers and practitioners.

Submission Details

Word limit: 1,500 words maximum
Multiple parts: Welcome where they form a coherent series
Publication: Open access on the Poorvam Ideas platform
Publication fee: None
Payment: As a non-profit platform, we are currently unable to offer payment for contributions

Please send submissions or proposals to:
id...@poorvam.com

As this is our first correspondence with the community, we would also be very grateful if members could introduce themselves to us and share their areas of research or creative practice. We hope this can be the beginning of a meaningful exchange rather than simply a call for submissions.

If you know of scholars, writers, artists or researchers whose work would be particularly relevant to these themes, please feel free to share this invitation with them as well.

Thank you for welcoming Poorvam into your community. We look forward to reading your work, learning from your research and building a sustained intellectual dialogue with you.

Warm regards,

Amritanath Bhattacharya (Rik Amrit)
