I just updated and I'm getting an error when I try to send the URL and it says to report it.  I followed the setup in Chrome btw.
Thanks,
Derek

I'm not having any luck with the new update either.

It acts like it sends the link to the cloud, but the little popup
window is empty, and nothing comes up in my browser.

Ditto same for me.

Also, really confused by having multiple installs of Chrome as I do (4
machines). Only tried one so far but where in phone do I set which to
send it to?

I really liked previous version and wish I could go back to it.

Same problem here. There is no longer an android2cloud showing up in
the Chrome toolbar in the browser itself. I have all the information
set up the same in the phone and the extension in Chrome. When I
first installed the new extension, the links I had tried to push to
the computer showed up in their separate tabs, so the data got
pushed. But since that one instance of them showing up after initial
re-installation, no tabs open.

Same here. After updating, I get the empty popup window. One thing
that I found though is that, by default, the url is set to
http://android2cloud.appspot.com while the Chrome extension defaults
to http://android2cloud.appspot.com. Once you fix this, the popup
window states that the link has been sent to the cloud, but nothing
shows up in Chrome. Now, another issues that may be related, is that
the android2cloud icon no longer shows up in my extensions toolbar @
the top of the screen in Chrome itself.
Phone: HTC Incredible
OS: Windows 7 (both 32 bit and 64 bit computers)

Hello,

I love your app but since this latest update, I cannot get it to work! Silent sending doesn't even attempt to work and the link doesn't send. Please fix!

Thank you!

Following up on this, I've figured out most of it.

The Chrome extension defaults to "https://android2cloud-
dev.appspot.com/" while the APK defaults to "http(s?)://
android2cloud.appspot.com/" for its posting. If you remove the "-dev"
on Chrome, it all starts working again. Things are sent and received
normally (at least on "stock" CM 6.1 and Chrome on OS X 10.6.5). It
seems it was just something Paddy forgot to remove between debug and
release (BTW, Paddy, thanks so much for this app, it's really great!).

That doesn't fix the non-working Silent Sending feature, but at least
the core functionality is there.

eoyount,

Sorry you're having issues. This is a reported issue, and something clearly wrong with the software, not your setup of it. I'm looking for the bug as fast as I can, and will roll out an update to the server as soon as I can fix it.

Would you be ok with me looking through the server logs and database for your email/links, to try and debug the problem?

Thanks,
Paddy Foran

Brent,

Sorry you're having issues! The icon is no longer supposed to show up in the toolbar; this version removed the functionality of the icon, and people asked me to remove it. So I did. It will return in later revisions.

As for Chrome not opening subsequent links, could you do the following for me?

1. Open chrome://extensions in your Chrome browser.
2. Enable developer mode (Click the developer link at the top right, above the extension list)
3. Under android2cloud, click background.html
4. In the window that pops up, click the Console tab.
5. Type in "config" (no quotes) and hit enter. "Object" with an arrow will appear under your "config" command.
6. Click the arrow, and the Object tree will expand.
7. Copy the object tree, and paste it into an email to pa...@android2cloud.org
8. Repeat steps 5-7, except use "channel" instead of "config".
9. Send the email.

Again, sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks,
Paddy Foran

Dee,

Sorry you're having issues. Unfortunately, we had to upgrade the software to the newer version. The old version cost about $80 a week more than this one. If you really miss the old version all that much, I invite you to pull the previous version from our source control, and set it up on your own App Engine install. I'll even help you do that, if you wish. I simply can't afford to keep the old version online and paid for.

As for selecting which device to send to, make sure you've given all of them unique names. Open your Android app, hit the menu button. Select Preferences. Enable Advanced mode. Hit the back button. You now have an input box to type in the device name. The input will remember the last device you sent to.

Which issue above is "ditto, same for [you]"?

Thanks,
Paddy Foran

Pesach,

This is a bug I've heard about, so I can confirm I screwed up and it's not just the setup on your phone or computer. I'm looking into this, and should have a fix in the very near future. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks so much for your work in debugging this! I am curious, however- where in the extension did you come across android2cloud-dev.appspot.com?

Hi Matt,

Sorry for the inconvenience! I'm working hard to try and sort out the problems that have been reported. Silent Sending is being investigated as I type this-- it should be patched in short order.

As for "the link doesn't send", could you elaborate on this please? What do you see when you send it from Android?

Thanks,
Paddy Foran

Mark,

Sorry about that. Both of these issues have been acknowledged (you can see more on http://blog.android2cloud.org). We've fixed some of them, and are working hard to fix the rest (Silent Sending has yet to be fixed, and we have one last Chrome bug). Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks,

I do, actually, realise that, yes. You can find more information at http://blog.android2cloud.org. Or http://www.twitter.com/android2cloud. Or the Google Group you're emailing.

Sorry you're having trouble with it. If you'd like to revert to the old software, it's still in the Mercurial repository on our project page: http://code.google.com/p/android2cloud. You'll need to set up your own server, but there's documentation for doing that. Unfortunately, we can't afford to host the old server software anymore, as it costs roughly $80/week to do so.

Expect an update for the software that should fix all the problems today or tomorrow.

Thanks,
Paddy Foran

Gentlemen,

My HTC Desire was back at HTC for mother board replacement. I reinstalled the android2cloud. Now, when I hit the send button, nothing happens. A square lights up in the center of the screen for few seconds and that's it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Paddy,  great app. I just upgraded to the most recent version and I am having a problem. When I send a url (google.com) for example, on my pc the tab opens and it says the page is not available. When I look at what address was sent,  there are a bunch of letters that were added to the beginning of the url and that is causing it not to work.  Thanks.

Hi Wally,

Sorry you're having issues. The problem is that yo're trying to send a link that has no protocol (usually, http://). Chrome, therefore, assumes the link is a relative link, meaning it thinks you're linking to a file in the same directory as the page that is linking to it, in this case, the extension.

Pushing out a fix for this tonight. Sorry.

Thanks,
Paddy Foran

Hey Paddy, I've been using your app a long time and think it's great. I really like what you did with version 2.01. It's much faster. Great job. However, I did notice a bug. If the app is used and a page is opened in Chrome, when I shut Chrome down and re-open Chrome, Chrome will start opening all the previous pages that were sent to the cloud. If I shut Chrome down without sending any more pages, it opens normally.

I hope you can get a fix for this. It's annoying. Otherwise, great job!

This is what I did to get it working again today:

I went into my google account and denied access for all android2cloud
references, removed chrome extension and reinstalled, then removed
android app (including data) and reinstalled... re-authorized both the
app and the chrome extension, and we're back in business!

I have still have silent sending disabled for now, but no biggie.
Thanks, Paddy!
