I know it's been a LONG time since we last wrote... both Dave (David
Park and John Lee [me] are the owners of this Google Group) and I have
been extremely busy with our own ministries and visions, so I
apologize on not being as active.
Even though the activity has been on the low (WAY low!!!) side, I'd
like to spur it up again - this time, by leaving it up to some of you
newbies who have just joined the group! So, on that note, I'd like to
welcome you guys to our discussion!
If you wouldn't mind, could you write a short little blurb about who
you are and what your ministry involvement and context are? That would
be awesome... just reply to this email or start a new discussion topic
in the Google Group.
Thanks!
john;)
my name is Josh Deng. I've been told I'm much younger than anyone
else in this group :P
I'm currently a junior studying electrical engineering at Virginia
Tech (go hokies!), and I am involved with InterVarsity on campus, as
well as a little bit of cornerstone christian fellowship and vtONE
leadership. vtONE is (for lack of a better word) a vision to see the
Christian body at Tech united, in worship and prayer and repentance.
We hold a semesterly worship event where we invite all campus
ministries to come together for worship and prayer. This last one
(two weekends ago) was AWESOME, and that's why I keep writing about
it :) God met us and it was amazing!
Anyhow, I found myself joining this group because I had been browsing
around David and DJ's websites/blogs and thought I'd listen in on the
discussion. It's been enlightening, and also a good breakaway from
good old college life.
peace!
Josh
I interviewed Josh yesterday and recorded our 8-minute conversation,
in which I asked that very question -- how can we pray for the
Virginia Tech campus? Listen in at:

Overall for the ones of us that are still around campus, things are
much better. Last night we had a joint large group with Intervarsity
and Cornerstone Christian Fellowship (a mostly korean, mostly asian
fellowship). It just so happened that alumni were planned to be here
this weekend, and we also had some people from a nearby church, as
well as some folks from other fellowships, so there were a lot more
people than usual. The time was amazing, we just praised God for who
He is! I was definitely blessed to see people worshipping together.
That's what's driving us so strongly to see another vtONE event
happen, because it brings people together, and good things come out of
it, to put it simply.

What a God move to have you, Josh, find this discussion! That is so
cool that you know David Park...I went to Vandy with him and served
with him in Intervarsity AACF. I appreciate the perspective to VATech
that you shared in the recording on your blog. I have been seeking
what I should pray, and your interview has helped me to see what has
been going on in the spiritual at VATech. I am so encouraged to hear
that VA Tech is uniting in spirit and in truth...nothing can break
through that unity that is bonded in the blood of Christ.
Grace and peace,
joyce
I too echo the gratitude of others on this forum that you're there at
VTech to bring an awareness that God does have a purpose and is
provident over even this situation. Please let me know if you have
any specific needs that we can help you with.
We were approached by NBC for an interview and indicated that there is
a great need for us to close the gaps that this incident exposed.
There is a need for us all to live out God's truth to allow us to
build a more meaningful world in preparation of His coming. This is
our prayer.
Take care.
