Hi Team,
I've been thinking about names for our product. I think that names can go a long way towards creating the kind of emotional connection that we have been looking for.
I really like some of the associations with the word "threshold," in the physical space kind of meaning. The threshold is where you walk through the door of your home, so it has a feeling of home and comfort, but also of transitions. I think it matches pretty well with the product, as something you interact with as you cross the threshold. Unfortunately, the world threshold is not that specific...a lot of people will immediately think of thresholds for pain. And threshold just doesn't have a very good feeling in the mouth.
This lead me to think about "verge" as another transition word. Unfortunately no homey feeling to that one.
How about "hearth"? It does have a good homey feel to it, and has an association with energy. however, it doesn't feel very nice in the mouth.
Does this inspire anyone?
Sorry if I am getting too wild here with my ideas. I am of the opinion that naming is a good place to include emotion, so I tend to shy away from names that are very literal. This is why I'm not super fond of the idea of "dial down," for example.
We could also look into words that imply brightness and welcoming homes (because this is a device that lets you have a warm, bright house while at home).
Any thoughts?
