                                TAN BARK RIDGE

They met
across the great divide
atop a windswept peak at Tan Bark Ridge.

She,
of quivering knees
and Time-worn heart.

He,
of primal urges
and world-weary words.

They  touched, healed,  and the mountain shuddered.
They kissed, and aged fruit fell from the trees.
Memory rose and fell like mountain mist.

Autumn descended on Circe's Isle.
Rima retreated to her Green Mansions.

But, for one languorous, luscious moment,
time stood still, continents merged,
on Tan Bark Ridge.

Hi Marianne, Doctor and all,
This one poem I loved most. I believe, Marianne has captured the essence of Rima and her love, the true spirit of Hudson’s novel in this small poem. Beautiful and profound. Brevity makes Marianne stand apart.
