Dear Dr Fab and all fellow poets,
Here is my new unpublished poem for the upcoming Anthology.
Love and Peace,
Varghese.

Wishful Dreams

Forty years in four different nations,

Is a long way to paddle through life,

Through times of sheer merriment,

Times of sorrow and painful agony,

Not weary though in my inner man,

Which was not by the spirit of man.

I always cherished my African life,

The first acid test of endurance,

Started so early in my twenties,

A life so challenging and different,

That needed courage to go through,

Learning the hard lessons of life.

The passion of chess and bridge,

Brought new friends young and old,

Many sleepless weekends playing,

Nostalgic to cherish even this age,

The bond of friendship was much like,

A cord of three strands unbroken.

Many emotional moments to scale,

Away from the dear and near ones,

Crying over Injera, the traditional food,

Cherishing it after a period though,

All those days coming as flashback,

Once again I dream to live it through.

I could hear the sounds of bells afar,

Nuptial bells resounding but feeble,

Sounding far from the West it came,

A welcome suggestion from her family,

Though I visaged a life quite different,

It only lingered as a wishful thought.

Now that I look back in late sixties,

I perceive that life was worth living,

All like a mesmerising winter's tale,

Worth dreaming to embrace yet again,

So I live in my dreams time and again,

Dreaming a new life to live different.
