I'm trying to setup the 2600hz platform on one test machine using the
cluster configurator. I am new to the project and exited to test it
out, I think it's just what I need for an upcoming project.
I assume the cluster configurator uses chef and knife behind the
scenes, I am very familiar with both tools. However, whenever I try to
set it up it is always stuck on "Please wait". I have tried on my own
physical servers and amazon virtual servers, and the result is the
same.
I have of course made sure that the servers have root access from any
IP through SSH.
When I logout and later log on, at least the "Please wait" sign goes
away and the server appears on the cluster configuration tool, but the
logs are empty and the platform is not installed. I was monitoring the
server and did not see any attempts to install the service.
Maybe if some of the base chef recipes were published I could tweak
them and run it. If not, is there any way to see what is going on with
the cluster configuration tool?
Thanks for the help.

The solution is simple - refresh your screen, then click "Upgrade" on the
right. It will begin the deployment.
It is not a chef bug at all, but a javascript error I have to fix.

I tried refreshing and trying again, at least I get an error log now,
but the installation did fail. I have tried it several times, and I
always get the same result. The full error is here
https://gist.github.com/1795085 but the relevant portions are:
gcc-c++-4.1.2-51.el5.x86_64 from 2600hz_custom has depsolving problems
Missing Dependency: libstdc++ = 4.1.2-51.el5 is needed by package
gcc-c++-4.1.2-51.el5.x86_64 (2600hz_custom)
gcc-objc-4.1.2-51.el5.x86_64 from 2600hz_custom has depsolving problems
Missing Dependency: libobjc = 4.1.2-51.el5 is needed by package
gcc-objc-4.1.2-51.el5.x86_64 (2600hz_custom)
There are more missing dependencies. I am using the Righscale AMI of
CentOS 5.6 x64.
I also tried to install on a physical server I have available. I has
CentOS 5.6 x64 installed directly from a DVD and minimal packages
installed.
It shows the following error:
x.x.x.x Building native extensions. This could take a while...
x.x.x.x ERROR: Error installing ohai:
x.x.x.x ERROR: Failed to build gem native extension.
(....)
x.x.x.x ERROR: Error installing chef:
x.x.x.x ERROR: Failed to build gem native extension.
I've bootstrapped with knife both the Rightscale AMI and the vanilla
CentOS installation on other occasions, so I don't know why it is
having problems now.
Thanks for the help!

If possible can you email me off-list? I would like to login to your test
boxes and play around with them a bit.
