Hello
I want to  do installation of kazoo 4.0, so during the built from Github branch 4.0. I am facing this below error and also attached the screenshot

make[1]: *** [/opt/kazoo/deps/jiffy] Error 127
make[1]: Leaving directory `/opt/kazoo/deps'
make: *** [deps] Error 2

So, anyone faced similar issues can help me with this.

Thanks
Rajat

Typically if the deps fail to build, I just remove the deps/ directory
and start the build process again.

Also, I would recommend building from the master branch for 4.0 at this
point. We'll be merging master into the 4.0 branch in the lead up to
KazooCon when we finally, officially, release 4.0.

Packaging will also be available at that point, to make installation a
breeze.

Also check that your build host not have installed erlang-rebar package.
Some distr have old version of "erlang-rebar" and it may prevent compile code.

You need to install erlang first,e.g. by using kerl.

Hello James,

Do we have the packages available, as mentioned I think around KazooCon it would be available ?

Also, for Kazoo 4 as I saw in the email newsletter that it will be using Freeswitch 1.6 that can be directly build from FreeSWITCH code rather than Kazoo maintained FreeSWITCH package.
I am bit unsure how I can use Kazoo 4.0 in production and best way available to do it now ?

Thanks
Gaurav

Hi Gaurav,

Packaging is available for CentOS but are still marked as
experimental. We have successfully installed the CentOS 7 packages
during our training course this past week. You can install the repo with:

https://packages.2600hz.com/artifacts/2600hz-release/experimental/centos/7/2600hz-release-2016.10-19.el7.centos.noarch.rpm

We are in the process of upgrading platforms to using the new builds and
making sure all is as expected. The hope is that the end of the week
will result in more "official" 4.0 packaging.

All packaging for external components - RabbitMQ, Kamailio, FreeSWITCH,
and BigCouch - are using the upstream repos of those projects. We
install a wrapper, kazoo-rabbitmq for instance, that takes care of
pointing the component at Kazoo's configs. So the vanilla packages are
available but aren't going to point at the proper configs for Kazoo.

The short answer is, packaging will be available soon in "official" 4.0
status; currently available as "experimental" while we iron out the
kinks.

This is a work-in-progress for the new docs site:
https://gist.github.com/jamesaimonetti/1e08a3e7e6cdbb59c6420d7132fafdfa

Once that's live, we'll link it on the repo's docs.

Is there a 3.22 => 4 migration cmd? Darren mentions there should be one and it is one way upgrade.. but I don't see it anywhere.

Hello James,

I worked on the gist steps you provided for building Kazoo 4 but facing similar error.

Also, I tried following these steps https://github.com/2600hz/kazoo/blob/master/doc/installation.md for installing Kazoo 4 on Debian. But again some of the commands didn't worked on Debian machine and I can see there are some yum commands in the installation guide.

Can you please suggest any updates on doc available where we can build Kazoo 4 or CentOS or Debian any of these. I understand there might be delay with package releases but I am really excited to try Kazoo 4 and its new features, which unfortunately not able to do till yet.

Thanks
Gaurav

Hello James,

I was able to successfully setup Kazoo v4 on Centor 7, but yet not on Debian 8. The documentation found on github, looks like is not updated and using that I am facing still problems. Can you please suggest the documentation which we all should use so we are able to install it on Debian 8

Also, any updates on the package releases? :) That way it will really becomes easier for everyone to install Kazoo without too much technical knowhow of background things. Yet, I am trying my best to install perfectly and will update.

Thanks
Gaurav
