Hi,

Not sure why I never noticed this before but there is a SIP URI device type in Kazoo but I'm not clear on how to use this. Can anyone explain it?

Thanks.

marc.

Hi Marc,
You can enter an address like:

to send calls to that address. It is like call-forwarding,, if you will, but to a SIP device instead of a phone number.

H
I, Darren:

From previous discussions, I understood the SIP URI only works outbound at the moment. With the other devices, like an IP phone or soft phone, there is an interface to dial from. How do I dial from the SIP URI? Do you have a callflow example?

Thanks

marc.

That's a different item and it's not possible (yet).

Thanks for bearing with me, Darren :)

So, if I add the SIP URI number to a call flow, I can have it reach a user or device? For example, if the call flow is:

                          |
                          |
                       User
                  Marc Abrams
                         |
                         |
                    Voicemail
                  Marc Abrams

and someone dials sip:ma...@mocet.com, it will reach the user, Marc Abrams, and any of the specified devices?

marc.

No. That feature is not available.

If you have an external system, say an Asterisk system, however, you can use a device's SIP URI mechanism to call OUT to that device/phone/PBX.

It would be:

|
|
|
   Device
Bob Dole

Where Bob Dole might be a SIP URI of bob...@whitehouse.gov

or something similar.

No that is absolutely not what it's for and that may actually break your call flow. Don't do that.

Hi, Darren:

I understand how this works now... and I answered another one of my questions (about the call testing service).

Thanks.

marc.
