So,  just got my first "Windows 10 end of support, your pc
does not support windows 11, so go f*** yourself, you will
stop getting updates in October 2025"
automatic message from microsoft.    Interestingly it was on
a laptop that has not been connected to the internet for
some time, so was likely sneaked in as a time bomb on a much
earlier windows update.
In addition to that, much like the "XP Sabotage" final
windows update - this laptop is now inexplicably absurdly
slow all of a sudden.  It also does something funny with
mouse focus until you clear the message.

(tldr: the "XP Sabotage" update was something installed in
one of the final windows XP updates, which caused any
internet connected PC to suddenly slow all loading times by
about 50%.   We know it was a deliberate sabotage update,
because it eventually occurred on all the PCs running in the
internet cafe I worked in at the time, which all used a
diverse range of hardware - they didn't get it all at once,
they rolled out over several days and the solution was
always the same, uninstall the previous windows update to
fix it, to return the pc to full speed.  The update seemed
to imitate the symptoms of a failing hard disk.)

The irony here of course, is it basically implies I am now
required to purchase a new laptop, except of course with a
few tweaks contrary to what the message might say, this
laptop actually can run windows 11 just fine.

I've noticed some other quirks too,   in some machines now,
when running the update to windows 11;   it does not
automatically carry over your  Windows Licence Key, and
erases it from the registry - on reboot offering to let me
"automatically buy a new key".      However if you
previously wrote it down(keyfinder kthax), and key it in
under "change my product key"  it accepts it just fine and
activates.

This seems to be a new level of shady even by Microsoft
standards.

Joseph Goebbels: If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal
enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.
