Peeples wif da old XP on their mommie's computers
shud reformat their drives, then get a Mac or
download a Unbuntu for their computing habits.

iPhones am good; Etch A Sketch may have viruses.

Netgear PCMCIA Wi-Fi Cards for Dummies is a good read.
Too bad; *NO* Cliff's Notes for it yet... but the
book has some pretty pikktures to color.

HTH.

Actually I think it has more to do with this:XP LOWERFILTERS CODE

But finding the right KEY in registry is the hard bit.

Clean the contacts. *Don't* use sandpaper or wet dry paper, but a bit of
WD40 and some elbow grease with a clean non-tattered rag (you don't want
bits of thread in there either) works wonders.

Try switching between the manufacturer's software and the native Wireless
Zero Configuration to find out what works best. IMO, the latter is the
better.

Before you go to messing with the registry, suggest you replace device,
reboot, then right-click your "My Network Place" | Propeties to bring up
your "Network Connections" dialog (or get some at your Control Panel).

If you have an icon for your Wi-Fi card, you start from there; but if you
don't, you start with the toolbar menu's "Advanced" drop-down menu...

Or, if you don't have an icon... I'd be tempted to leave the Network
Connections window open, then do the unplug/replug thang with your card and
see what pops... probably the wayward icon with a dialog to adjust some
settings...

Let us know, you old nasty tardnonymous geriatric-diaper-loader, and take
an extra dose of your blood pressure meds first, 'cause I wouldn't wantcha
dying on us before this thing resolves... be litterin' up the streets of
Cleveland and have to wait 'til the snow thaws before they can scoop ya up
and take ya to the dump... Ho, ho, ho.

WD40 and elbow grease with a rag? Dummy. Use a pencil eraser. Works wonders,
and you don't have to use "elbow grease".

Use some WD40 for trolls. Works wonders and
you NEVER has to get your elbows greasy again.
(As if... the extra Shamwow will cover your elbows.)

Another top posting person who can't think. Lovely.

So what exactly is coating it then? Pencil lead?

Nothing actually. The issue isnt due to crud. Its some kind of
hotplugging issue. The card isnt detected if its in place *during*
boot-up from a cold boot. However, *after* booting if I eject, then
push-back in, the network icon appears and it connects to my dsl
wireless AP. Also, if I insert the card after booting if the card was
not in place, its detected. So its merely an odd annoyance prolly
connected with a PNP issue or a hotplug issue.

At this point I think its something to do with SP3. XP with SP2 didnt
have as many issues. This install has been buggy from the get-go.

Word.

My Ubuntu has the same method of gay.

The workaround is to remove the fucking Wifi card, it takes seconds.
