Please help me with this issue.

I apologize if I have posted this in an inappropriate group.

I bought an Acer Aspire 6 cell Netbook (Windows XP I believe) a few
months ago . It ran great for a few months. Now it is vey slow.

I did the following:

1. Did a run
misconfig
and deselected the programs I did not want.

( I get an error window that says:
An access denied error was returned while attempting to change a
service...
but yet it seems to deselect the software)

2. Opened Chrome and Mozilla / Firefox and cleared history, cache
etc.

But it is still very slow.

I have not added /downloaded any software to the netbook nor changed
anything.

Can anyone please suggest what I should next ?

Thanks in advance for your input,

Irfan Williams

May I suggest that would be a good thing to trying defragment the HDD;
www.auslogic.com is the address, and I find this one very good. I have
UNIBLUE.com too, but it is not match to auslogic. There is also Disckeeper
and many other defragmenters on the market.

Your *best* bet is to contact Acer and use their warranty service which
you paid good money for. Sounds like a permissions issue to me though.
Doing it thru the Admin> Management> Services snap-in is where you
enable/disable services at startup.

<shrugs>

Oh fuck, its snowing...again.

Of course, by deleting certain things you did not understand the purpose
of, nor bother to check out their purpose, causes more problems.

Does it have system restore? If so, use it and go back to day one.
Otherwise you may have to do a full recovery.

The main reason for slowness is due to registry clutter. Junk that builds
up over time. What you need to do is to clean it out. Search for toniarts
easy cleaner. Also run malwarebytes and install a good firewall like
comodo.

Did you try disabling *all* of them?

So you left part of one package running and the other part (which was
needed by the part running) wasn't started.

Won't have any effect on it, but you may get some webpages displaying
that you couldn't before.

Scan your computer for general malware and trojans.

Stop top posting you dolt.

It's a new computer and he states he hasn't added any software so your
suggestion isn't even close.

Actually it makes since. The OP mentioned nothing about a virus
program.

So not only are you being a smartass you missed the most important
part of the OP.

I am sorry I should have mentioned the specs for the Acer Aspire One
netbook :

1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 Processor
1024MB DDR2 SDRAM Single Channel Memory
160GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM)
Windows XP Home (SP3), Up to 7.5 Hours of Battery Life (6-Cell 5200
mAh)

Also I should have mentioned that I am not a techie.

Thanks,
Irfan Williams

Corrected the above line. Hope you don't mind. The fact that there are
so few people who actually want to help the OP's here must be incredibly
confusing and frustrating.

But I'm sure you'll find lots of other useless things to say the next
time you troll someone Evan.

Chuck you dick! Why don't you give the guy a sensible answer for the first
time in your life? Remember you didn't get this one from me. Tell him why
don't you try overclocking the cpu?
