Who netcopped Gangle? Who stood to benefit from the controversy?

Well, well...

Away from the newsgroup all friggin day and I come back and find this!

Since baseless accusations are getting thrown around left and right, let me
add my two cents to the pile.

Who here stood to benefit and bolster their position in a "personal little
flame war" if Gangle was netcopped? Would it be me? Hardly.

Have I ever responded to one of Gangles posts and asked him to stop? Ever?

Have I argued with Gangle over his posts? Come on, you all know how shy I
am!

So who thought they would stand to gain? Who knew that Gangle had lost his
account before and would likely get it back in no time? Me? No.

So who netcopped Gangle? Well I think it was none other than (drum roll
please!) cat daddy. And didn't he set it up beautifully!!! As the coup de
grace on the little flame war and intense dislike that he and I have
cultivated here on this very group, what better way to gain a "breast
beating" position than to netcop Gangle and then say "Look! he did it!"

You can call me a lot of things. Opinionated? Yes. Stubborn? You betcha!
Shy? No...I don't think so.

When I have problems with someone and what they post, I take it to them
either on the newsgroup or via e-mail. Sometimes both. But do I sneak around
in the shadows and look to cause problems with peoples accounts? Have I
ever? Come on people! Think!

There may be something to learn here and it goes beyond Cat Daddy, Dollface
and me. What is it? It is that anyone can lodge an abuse complaint with an
ISP or news service at any time and whether that complaint has any real
merit or not, someone may well (at least temporarily) lose an account or
even a web site.

Think about that.

In the past I have been in on Gangles "mustard and tractor" jokes. Replied
to 'em even. My argument to this point has not been with Gangle. Never has.
And you can be sure that if I had a problem with him, he would hear from me
directly.

So who stood to gain here? Me? I think not.

So who net copped Gangle? I think Cat Daddy did it. And I think he did it to
get at me. Can I prove it? No. Absolutely not. But that is what I think. And
gauging the reaction here I think it worked out for him wonderfully.

Cat Daddy the netcop.

Now...back to answering the computer related questions that are supposed to
be what this newsgroup is about.

Bullshit. You are the *only* one who stood to gain. This proves your
"point" perfectly...unfounded abuse reports get filed, innocent people get
hurt. Oh, and as for accusing Cat Daddy...I think you're right....Cat Daddy
*did* send those reports. But cat daddy didn't. The person who was using
the nic "Cat Daddy" is exactly the person who sent the abuse
reports....because that person his you. HAND, FOAD.

BTW, I must congratulate you...you have succeeded in your vendetta. I'm
gone.

Baseless conjecture serves no purpose but to obfuscate the issue. I've got my
own differences with cat daddy and his hypocrisy, he's got one foot in my "Bozo
Bin" already, but groundless accusations serve no useful purpose. Post Proof or
retract.

Not for good, I hope!!! You are a major asset to this group, as well as
being the 'empress' <g>. Though I can understand your frustration with the
current situation here, I really hope you can try to ignore the bs and not
let it drive you away.

I see. So opening myself up to baseless accusations from Cat Daddy is a
gain? I think not.

Actually it does prove my point. But like I said, if I was going to complain
about anyone, it would be CD. I have never had a problem with Gangle and
still don't.

I sue Cat Daddy's nic? No...I don't think so. It seems to me that crap was
coming from uncensored news. Richard uses it as do others. Me? Nope. I use
Bellsouth and Mindspring. Never had a need for another server and if I did
it wouldn't be uncensored news.

> HAND, FOAD.

LOL!!! Hope that made you feel better.

>
> BTW, I must congratulate you...you have succeeded in your vendetta.

Vendetta? Listen up Dollface, the ONLY issue I have had with you people is
your unwarranted net copping. That has been it. I do not think that one
issue a vendetta makes.

> I'm gone.

Well, I am sure you will get an outpouring of love, affection and sympathy.
People will ask you back. And you know what? You will be back. I guarantee
it.

I don't think you should leave the group. Nobody should leave the group.
(Well, Richard Bullis is excluded from that statement.) But you might want
to examine exactly why you are so upset and reconsider.

Last year when I came on board here, this group was tech support for people
with computer questions with Gangle's demented wit thrown in for spice. It
was a winning combination. But over time what the group drifted towards was
a mish mash of everything but what it once was. More and more itchy
finger net cops. More and more of Cat Daddy's (yes, Cat Daddy's) snippy
little retorts to people that struck him the wrong way (which for some
reason you seem more than willing to overlook).

You took positions that were indefensible Dollface. Your lament about "poor
foreigners" paying for bandwidth justification for all of the "abuse to" net
copping didn't square with all of the banter that has nothing to do with
what you yourself have in the past said and told newbies that this newsgroup
was for: computer support.

So...sorry to see you go. It is a mistake for you to leave. But I have no
doubt what so ever that within a few hours or a few days at the most that
you will make your grand re-entrance. You will of course be welcomed back.
Yes...even by me.

Dollface, everybody wants you to stay. You are part of the family here at
the 24hoursupport.helpdesk if you leave there will be a big piece missing
here. Crap the idiots who make this group suffer. Don't give in to it.....

Thanks Claybaker. It has taken me a long time to try to catch up. At the
moment I've still got 350 posts to read.

At one time I thought that Oxford Systems was helpful. I have been lurking
& replying when I thought I could help. At one time I thought that Oxford
Systems was giving useful advice.

This went down the shoot when s/he /it had someone who was posting with a
weird font to this ng - non binary ng there was a post about soemeone using
a non-standard font! I accepted that as a newbie.

We have had flame wars before but I'm getting p'd off. Can everyone get
back on track before we lose the track of what this ng is for - HELPING
PEOPLE!!!!!!!

OK if someone wants to TOS me please do so. It is getting sickening that so
many of the helpers are getting wound up!

Please don't go. Lurk yes & help when needed!

Everyone is getting well overheated. Sleep helps & a good trundle (sorry-
walk.)

As most of you know, for the last 6 weeks I've been laid up by knees not
working. my lifeline has been this ng - helping when I can & learning when
I can't.

The flame wars have not been good & I have tried to cool them down when I
can - from a relative newbie.

Some people seem to have become disruptive recently.

CAN EVERYONE COOL DOWN & LURK (sorry about shoting) unless needed.

This kind of thing helps no-one! it just slows down the help to newbies.
Caustic or short replies do not help. As far as I know my replies probably
verge on the verbose as I am trying to point newbies in the right direction.

Sometimes I have got miffed as the people have not read their previous posts
or waited too short a time before reposting the same query.

I've said my bit for this thread!
