I've gotten free mulch - shredded trees - from the power company, but it
doesn't keep the grass supressed in the flower beds.

Would bark chips work better, because they're heavier and block out grass and
weed growth?

Place landscaping mesh under the mulch.

Use Agent Orange.

"Seems" landscaping is also beyond your comprehension and real world
experience.
Copy and paste seem to be your forte, without really understanding the items
you post.

Either will serve, need to be fairly deep. I think the bark is
better...the coarseness provides less of a toehold for seeds.

Regardless of which you use you have to pick out any baby weeds that start;
hoeing works too. If your grass has runners you need to use an edger with
some frequency.

Nah, just reformat the flower beds and reinstall the flowers!

According to your normal ramblings here - that'll soon sort the problem out!

It's best to kill any invasive grass first. And the mesh ends should
be overlaid to avoid seams.

Well sure, if you want to do it *right*.
Who has time for that?

Interesting article mentioning something Ive noticed: pine needles
suppress weed growth.

Mainly because I'm too lazy to rake up the friggin pine needles :)
