Finish time for legs

Ian,

Once again I am confussed. This question comes up every year at least
once. What time do competitors need to finish their last leg? Rule
10.1.1 says that the race ends at 5 and that 'Competitors must
complete their final leg by 5:00:00 PM for it to count in the race'.
Rule 10.2.1 however states that 'a team finishing with 8 legs at 5:45
pm beats a team finishing with 8 legs at 5:56 pm' and 'Teams/solo's
may complete the race any time before the official finish at 6:00:00
pm on Saturday.

Sorry to bring it up again, but it was different the last 2 years and
want to make sure we know how to prepare.

Thanks for reading the rules and clarifying.

1. You must complete your last leg by 5:00:00 pm for it to count in
the 8 hour race.
2. If you are on the same leg as another team and finish earlier you
beat them.

Good catch on rule 10.2.1. The example times were incorrect (left over
from last year) and have been corrected.

10.2.1: 8 hour races - Finish order is determined by the number of
completed legs plus time. For example a team finishing with 8 legs
at 4:45 pm beats a  team finishing with 8 legs at 4:56 pm. Teams/
solo’s may complete the race any time before the official finish
at 5:00:00 pm on Saturday. Teams and solo’s may choose to stop and
rest at anytime during the event but must re-enter the course where
they originally exited.
