completion time for last lap - 8 hour solo

Hi Ian,

Could you please verify the official completion time for the 8 hour
race? The start time is listed at 9:00 am. However, there are 2
completion times listed.. one states the last lap must be completed by
5:00 pm for the lap to count

10.1.1: 8 hour races end at 5:00:00 pm on Saturday. Competitors must
complete their final leg by 5:00:00 pm for it to count in the race.
Each team/solo's placing will be determined by the number of swim,
bike and run (or bike and run) legs they have completed and the
sequential order of finish.

The other section states the official finish time is 6:00 pm.
I thought I remembered that we have to begin our last leg by 5:00 pm
and complete it by 6:00 pm for it to count.

10.2.1: 8 hour races - Finish order is determined by the number of
completed legs plus time. For example a team finishing with 8 legs at
5:45 pm beats a team finishing with 8 legs at 5:56 pm. Teams/solo’s
may complete the race any time before the official finish at 6:00:00
pm on Saturday. Teams and solo’s may choose to stop and rest at
anytime during the event but must re-enter the course where they
originally exited.

Hi Davia,

Good catch, the finish time for 8 hours is 5:00 pm. I'll update this
on the website when I'm back from IM China (working as water safety
director.)

10.1.1 is correct, I'll change 10.2.1 when I get back to the US.
