NHD-CA State Historical Paper Contest - Intent to Participate

[South Bay Peninsula History Day]

Dear History Day Teachers,

Beginning with contests in 2024, registration and submission of all historical papers will follow a different format from other categories. 

• Historical papers will not compete at county contests. 
• Instead, papers will be directly submitted to the state online Historical Paper Contest. 
• Papers will be judged by judges throughout the state.
• Students will not be interviewed. 

Intent to Participate - Action Item

Deadline - January 19th

Please complete the school intent to participate form (linked here) to let us know that your school plans to submit historical papers in the contest. 

Registration

Opens - January 20th

Deadline - February 10th

Each school will submit one registration to register up to 3 papers in the contest. 

Fee:  $35 per paper

Payment:  Can be made online by credit card or you can use attached agency payment form to pay by check or purchase order. 

Historical Paper Submission Deadline

February 13th

Papers will be submitted via Google Form

Results

• All participants will receive a certificate of participation and judge feedback forms. 
• Finalists Announced - March 21st 
  The top 12 Junior Division and the top 12 Senior Division students will advance to the NHD-CA State Contest held April 19-21^st at Sac State. Students must register and pay ($105 per student) for the state contest by March 27th.
