AGTA 2011 Conference website is now active to receive expressions of interest and abstracts.

Things have been a bit quiet on the 21st Century Geography in
Australian schools Google Group front over the past week (end of year
marking etc). Still happy to read your responses about the big
questions in geography if you have some time. On another matter, you
may have received the email below about the AGTA 2011 Conference
website being active. For the purpose of this Google Group we would
like to hear from geographers in Australia what workshops/activities
at the conference they would see as useful for the classroom
geographer preparing for the National Geography Curriculum in 2012. In
particular, we would love to see as many 21st Century Geography in
Australian schools Google Group members (106 teachers/educators have
joined the group at this stage) at the conference as possible so that
we can continue our cyberspace discussions in person.

"The next Australian Geography Teachers' Association (AGTA) Conference
is to be held at Scotch College in Adelaide from January 10th -13th,
2011. The conference is on “Geography Going National” and should be a
great opportunity to get some professional learning prior to the
implementation of the National Geography Curriculum in 2012. We
already have several high profile UK geographers presenting on their
experiences of National Curriculum in the UK (for example Dr Rita
Gardner from the RGS, UK) The CEO of ACARA, Peter Hill has also
agreed to present which should be a great opportunity for us to be
informed of the processes for 2011 with the National Geography
Curriculum.

The website will allow you to register your expression of interest to
attend and if interested to put in an abstract to present. We would
love to see you on the program!!

Mate, would love to present something on fieldwork. Developing fieldwork for non-specialist geography teachers or something. Also, I think you want something from me about GTASA fieldwork group thingy, that we talked about at the meeting. Good idea to launch it at next years conference but in the interim could we maybe put it out there that I would like to help people out who want ideas etc for fieldwork in their schools/situations. I don't really know how to phrase it so put it in whatever spin you want.
