unpublishedThe Summer With longest days and shortest nights
Summer sets in with all might and main.
The azure sky is crystal clear
where clouds do running race with the Sun
Umpteen Jasmines bloom in array
to welcome both the dawn and dusk.
Across the meadows Daisies pied,
but the baking sun make them droop.
Streams, culverts and rivulets
are thinning down into slender threads
across the hot and burning sand.
Barren land and bare tree tops
miss their healthy greeny look.
Tall, towering trees together
sway with the rhythm of warm gust of air.
Birds lose their habitat
Animals wander in search of shades.
Day and night, the sweat and thirst
make the human life hapless.
Everybody wishes to see
one rain bearing cloud far above, to beat
the heat in the shower of Summer.
No matter for the children so far
Though the day is running hot or cold
They continue their fun and frolic
under the blazing rays of Sun and
get a deep, healthy tan !
The old and youth with fervour
relish the ice cream cheerfully.
Summer confines me indoors as its
heat can swelter anything, both I hate!
