Subject: 20mph zones - please be more ambitious!

Hello Bob and Tom,

We have received the proposals for the Sharrow Vale, Hillsborough and Fox Hill 20mph zones and have responded in support of these. As we have with previous 20mph zone proposals.

However, we urge SCC to be more ambitious with these zones in terms of the size and roads covered.

Briefly this is because:
-20mph should be the default speed for roads in Sheffield
-Larger zones would be cheaper to implement than lots of smaller ones
-If the eventual target is default 20mph for Sheffield residential areas then larger zones would be a quicker way to achieve this
-Including larger roads where the majority of collisions/KSIs occur would be more effective at reducing collisions/KSIs
-it would adhere to the 'sustainable safety' and 'Heathy Streets' approach in the SCC Transport Strategy.

Happy to discuss further.

Thanks,
