As many of you know, a few WAADErs have been involved with a tremendous community organizing effort in the Rainier Beach Community. We wanted to let you know about its culminating event this Saturday called "The Gathering." It's important to let residents from Rainier Beach and the south end know about this event.

About The Gathering

The Gathering is an interactive event that will creatively explore 120+ stories from the Rainier Beach community. It's an opportunity to identify collective and individual steps to address the negative perceptions of the community and to reduce youth violence. At "The Gathering," you will experience the stories of more than 120 local residents through art, video and photography exhibits, audio recordings, and live storytelling. The event will include performances by a premier Seattle DJ, a community hip-hop artist Mike Day, and a special guest appearance. "The Gathering" will culminate with food and recognition of the community volunteers. 

We invite you to "The Gathering" on Saturday, May 31 from 1:30 to 5:00 p.m. at Southshore K-8 School (4800 S Henderson St.).
