My students can't ask questions directly due to Chromebook security and the recent Alabama ban on cell phones in schools, so I'll be asking questions on their behalf.

The Estimating template lists #4 rebar, 4' lengths.  The IRC is used in that area and section R404.1.3.5.4 states that horizontal reinforcement should be longest lengths practical.  Shouldn't students be estimating the number of 20' sticks for the footings where # 4 rebar is specified?  Also, I assume the #3 rebar is for verticals to tie the upper and lower rebar together, since we couldn't see it used anywhere else.  Can you provide clarification?

Thanks,

An updated foundation drawing has been provided to clarify the estimating requirements. The previous version reflected fiberglass rebar specifications. For this project, #5 rebar in 20-foot lengths is used for the long horizontal runs in the foundation wall. The #4 rebar in 5-foot lengths is used to bend down into the slab from the foundation, connecting the two pours and helping to prevent foundation roll-out.
