Hey, on the ceiling joist plan, why is there a 2-2x12x20' header going through the bedroom and garage sitting parallel to the ceiling joists. What's the purpose of this and why is this not shown on the other plans?
Thanks,

We updated drawings in the important materials folder on 11/23 and the updated drawings don't show this. There is a triple 2x12 w/osb
beam in that location in the garage. It is needed to brace the roof
above with perlin bracing. The engineer does the math and often
substitutes 2x12 sandwich beams
with osb inbetween each 2x12 in place of traditional LVL beams when the
math works out. It is less expensive.
