INVITATION TO THE INTERNAL AUDITORS CONFERENCE - 2016
Risk Based Internal Auditing is an area that is always evolving. Successful Internal Audit Professionals update their skills to improve their current internal audit processes.
Also, quality audit reports take into consideration an effective audit observation and how to organize reports that meet professional standards, elicit management action, and communicate crucial messages to stakeholders. Internal Auditors who have these skills can distinguish themselves in their current positions and prepare themselves for career advancement.
In view of this, the Institute of Chartered Accountant is organizing a two-day Internal Auditors Conference.
PROFILE OF FACILITATOR
Frederick Pokoo-Aikins, B.Com (Hons), Dip. Ed, CIA, CISA, CICP, ACFE, is an independent internal audit advisor, risk management and internal control expert and professional trainer. He is the founder and Managing Consultant of ALTUM Training & Consulting. Fred is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and a Certified Internal Control Professional (CICP). He is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners as well as the Chartered Management Institute, UK. He worked with multinationals such as Coopers and Lybrand, Ernst and Young and USAID among others and has 18 years’ experience in public and private sector internal and external auditing where he worked as an assurance provider, risk management consultant, internal controls expert, fraud management and control expert and business process improvement specialist. Prior to forming ALTUM TC, Fred was the Head of Internal Audit in two medium sized multinational banks with an average of 21 branches each in Ghana. During that time he conducted several fraud investigations involving staff and vendors as well as senior management members. These investigations led to the recovery of several thousands of GHS. He sits on the boards of two financial institutions as chairperson of the audit committees where he champions the implementation of fraud management and control systems designed to reduce the risk of fraud in operations as well as well financial reporting. He is experienced in the conduct of fraud risk assessments in financial institutions as well as SMEs. Fred has been also been delivering training sessions and seminars in Fraud Auditing and Fraud Prevention and Detection, where he stresses that the most effective deterrent to fraud is increasing the perception of detection. Fred recently led a team of professional trainers to deliver a “Fundamentals in Risk Management” training to over 500 staff, comprising managers and officers, of the National Health Insurance within a record three weeks. Fred has also managed a number of risk management projects for clients such as BiDi Group Limited, Rural Community Aid Network and TAKOA Construction. He has a passion for quality and has handled two QAIP engagements in which he led a 2-member team to establish a QAIP for two private sector organizations. Fred, last year (2015) made presentations to over 10 organizations on the IPPF as a preparation for the establishment of a QAIP. He is also a regular facilitator Risk Management, Internal Auditing, COSO Internal Controls, Corporate Governance, as well as IT Audit sessions at the National Banking College. He is also a regular speaker at ICA Ghana internal audit conferences and serves on Boards as well. He is currently a visiting facilitator at the University of Cape Coast where he lectures in Corporate Governance and Auditing. He now leads the ALTUM team as they deliver consulting and training solutions in internal audit, fraud management and control, risk management and corporate governance to professionals engaged in corporate monitoring activities in the private and public sectors. His passion is to get the ORC relationship across to CEOs, Managers and Auditors who are all involved in the business of setting and achieving objectives.
