Dear friends
Hello!
I have sent the following email to 21st century regarding the teaching of Board Subjects. If you have something more /change to say, then please do communicate.
M K Koul;
======================================================
Hello!
I want to share some of my views about the teaching aspect of 12th board syllabus. As you are aware, we have been told that board syllabus will be completed by August 2013. But sincerely speaking I am not too optimistic about this dead line. This is based on my personal experience based on the previous year and also considering the total volume of the 12th class board text-books. At the same time I will be more than satisfied if you are able to complete board syllabus even by Mid-October 2013. Today already 3 weeks of teaching are over and we are still at the 1st chapters as far as the board Phy. Chem. and Maths are concerned. Before I further say anything, let me give you the list of number of topics( chapters) in each board subject:
Physics : 20
Chemistry : 16
Maths : 16 ( After dropping out 5 topics from the syllabus)
Biology : 19
Clearly the speed at which the 3 main subjects (Phy, Chem & math) are taught presently, it is almost next to impossible to cover the whole syllabus even by October. I would request you to make some sort of Course plan for Board subjects also, similar to that you have made for IIT exam. We have still more than 5 months (May-Oct ) to finish the syllabus. As an example, Physics has 20 chapters in all, so the concerned teacher should cover 3-4 chapters per month in physics. Similarly in Chemistry 3 chapters have to be completed every month so that the course is finished within 6 months from now. I request you to devise some strategy with all the concerned teachers so that the Board syllabus is completed before November in any case. But it should be like the teacher will cover only one chapter in first few months and the run through the other topics in later months. The speed of teaching should be neither too slow nor too fast. That is why I want 3-4 chapters to be covered every month. I request you to have a proper look at my suggestions and take some good steps which will be beneficial for the students in the long run.
Regards
M K Koul
