What I would prefer is for him to rather refer to the area in general using a centre point by name and refer to a radius of 2km or 3km area. For example “ Severely affected areas are general residential and farm areas 2 km north & south of the Carolina road stretching from the N1 to the Drakenstein Municipal graveyard. This way we are included in the area but not named directly….so we can still argue that although we are in the area we are not technically affect. We can then forward the letter to owners for support signatures and leave the original at the guard house, owners can sign the original as they enter or leave the estate. Cut-off date for signature the 14th Dec 2014. I personally object to using Paryskloof estates name in the letter. Others may feel differently, but that’s just my view……. I do agree with Juan, we don't want to create unnecessary bad publicity but I can confirm the facts.
We unfortunately were indirectly involved in failed hi-jack attempt that ended in shooting of the driver at the crossing of Paarl and Simondium. Just hours before for that a another attempted failed hi-jack and shooting occurred a few km away and at Sonstraal garage there was a shoot an run 3 hours before that. (All on one evening over a weekend). The inspector words, we have never had so many crime cases within a whole year, compared to the last few weeks, it only happened in Cape Town and Gauteng but now its in Paarl"
I am just afraid that we us trustee turn a blind eye due to risk of bad publicity and then we are asked by our farmers why we did not support them? We are part of the community within the area as well. (We all love the farm feeling) We have the luxury of security included in our levies but they don't have that - if we all work together we can all benefit, I think.
But that just my point of view.
