Hi, my name is Mohammed Zaman. I recently graduated with my bachelor's last summer. I'm from NYC and plan on taking my level 2 exam in June. I am taking a different route with the topics and starting with fixed income and derivatives, since those seem like the most quantitatively difficult topics. I'm hoping this strategy will allow me to remember the harder formulas since I'll have more time for them. Finished fixed income and I'll be done with derivatives in 3 days, having some trouble with swaps but working it out now. Then i'll follow the regular schedule. Looking forward to meeting the rest of you.

Hi, my name is Lijo Jose. I work for a Brazilian asset management firm, in its London office, and I work in asset gathering. I've started with Fixed Income and Quant, and plan to do Derivatives next (these are my really really weak areas so intend to get them out of the way early). Then I will move to my really weak areas - i.e. all the remaining ones. :)

All the best! Not too long to go!

Hi,
haha!! very nicely put there Lijo!! I am Umair Khan...engineering background somehow developed an interest in finance etc..here at manulife financial in Toronto, Canada.

I have a question for Sir Arif about the quizes. It may have been mentioned elsewhere in his lectures but I would like it to be reiterated for everyones sake. The questions on your Quizes, how closely do they mimic actual CFA Level 2 exam questions?

I haven't seen Scheweser Level 2 material but level 1 material was pretty useful (secrect sauce etc for quick revision) although I will add that your youtube vidoes were really the meat and drink for my level 1 prep. Appreciate your comment!!

Thanks!

We've tried to model our quiz questions on  the curriculum and past  CFA Institute mock exams.  Having said  that,  the more practice you do the better.  Do all the curriculum questions.  In the last month I'd like you do past CFA Institute mock exams (they are excellent practice).  If  you still have time you can also do Schweser practice questions.

Hi I'm Igor.  I recently passed the L1 CFA exam in December and i can say that I couldn't have done it without Arif Irfanullah's help.  I want to thank you for your contribution to my success! Consequently I bought the L2 videos because of the value that you have brought to my L1 exam.  I work here in Fort Worth, TX as an Investment Consultant at TD Ameritrade.  It's nice to have a group here that we can chat and share questions/ideas.  Great to meet you all!

Hi everyone,

Great to see people from so different parts of the world!

Myself I'm a Swedish guy and I moved 1.5 year ago with my company to Hong Kong to open up our first branch. Here I'm responsible for our Risk Control function and work with everything from market/liquidity risks to operational risks. I decided to take the CFA to broaden my knowledge (I studied applied physics with specialization in math/quant finance) and of course in the long run hopefully get better job opportunities.

Hi,

Looking for some feedback on Question 9 (part b) from Reading 11 on the 2013 curriculum Quant section if someone's done it. What I don't get is why they don't use 4.243 (standard error) direct to calculate the interval and instead use 4.57 (which I don’t know how they come up with). Maybe I am missing something I should already know or maybe I am worrying too much about one lil question J ...any sort of feedback is welcome...attached the file for those who may not have access to the material..

Thanks!!

I haven't read this material yet, but I think you are confusing things, 4.57 is the square root of the result 20.884. SQRT(20.884) = 4.57 which is as they say the standard deviation of the prediction error.

Dear Sir

In equity- free cash flow valuation example 9 why don't we add back depreciation when arriving at FCFF? According to the formula we have to add it back....Please be kind to reply my question.

I have completed 7-8 topics (excluding Ethics , AI and half Eco) from Kaplan once (Equity twice and FRA also twice). Have done only the Schweser questions at the back of the chapters. Plan to complete the rest of the topics and one revision by May 15 and then attempt a few mocks. Can someone please let me know if Schweser is enough to pass as I had read that one needs to practice EOC from the CFAI material. I do not have the time to attempt those.

I am using Arif Irfanullah's videos to prepare for my exam. He has based it on the curriculum so its quiet helpfully. The practice questions at the back of the chapters are exam like so one should attempt those. I plan on doing the mock exams once I am done with all the chapters and see which topics I have issues with. Hope this helps. Good luck with the exam.

Regards,

Ahmad Aly.
