Hearty congrats to our alumna Dr. Chaitali Phadke

who got the degree Ph. D. in Psychometrics this week!!

The first one and the only one to specialize in Psychometrics,

as far as I know.

and as someone who taught Testing and statistics for 36 years

in our dept., I'm specially happy!!

please read the details below. if you wish to contact Dr. Chaitali,

send a mail to her   chai...@gmail.com

Dear Diwan mam,

Here are the details you asked for.
University name: University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.
Specialization/Area: Psychometrics/Quantitative Psychology
Year joined: September 2011
Degrees obtained: PhD in Psychometrics (December 2017), M.S. in Statistics (April 2015).
Before joining the PhD program at the University of Minnesota, I obtained an M.A. (2009) in Industrial & Organizational Psychology from S.N.D.T. University and B.A. (2007) in Psychology from Ruparel College, University of Mumbai.

Currently I work as a psychometrician at Scantron Corporation. Scantron is a leading organization in K-12 educational assessment and is known for their products Achievement Series (AS) and Performance Series (PS), a computer adaptive test (CAT) used by many school districts to measure an academic performance from Grade K to Grade 12.
My job duties involve maintaining the item banks for Achievement Series and Performance Series, calculating Classical Test Theory (CTT) based and Item Response Theory (IRT) based item statistics, making sure that the items are psychometrically and statistically sound to be used for testing, providing psychometric expertise, designing & implementing norming studies, standard setting procedures, making sure that the CAT algorithm functions efficiently etc.

During my Graduate/PhD career in the U.S., I worked as a Teaching Assistant (TA) and Research Assistant (RA). As a TA, I was involved in teaching and assisting in classes on Intro Stats and Psychometrics. As an RA, I mainly worked on research related to CAT and IRT, with its application to K-12 data.
You can forward my email contact to the alumni so that they can get in touch with me if they need more information. I will be happy to answer their questions!
Let me know if you need more details/information.
Thanks,
Chaitali

Please find below the abstract of the dissertation.
Abstract

The present study proposed six new omnibus hypothesis tests – F1, F2, LR, ST and two chi-squared based statistics – to measure psychometric significance of individual change when an individual is measured at two or more occasions. The hypothesis tests were evaluated on criteria of Type I error, power, and agreement between the methods in the adaptive measurement of change (AMC) framework. This study expanded on AMC research by Finkleman, Weiss & Kim-Kang (2010) and Lee (2015), by introducing more generalized methods for multi-occasion case. The omnibus tests were evaluated under various discrimination, bank type, and change conditions. The simulation results showed the LR test to achieve an optimum balance between Type I error and power. The hypothesis tests were found robust under most testing conditions. The tests were successfully applied to K-12 math data. The proposed methods are applicable under a variety of testing conditions in which IRT-based item parameters have been established.

Thanks,
Chaitali Phadke
