Dear all,
So far I got quite a numbers of questions asking about the unclear information. I am sorry for the confusion. Here are my clarifications:
+ Because of the nature of the research (mainly doing computational work) you can work anywhere, any time (except for the experimental work on biodiesel purification). This means that you can work day and/or night even during weekend. The only thing you need is a laptop/desktop connected to supercomputers .
+ If you want to do experiments (specifically for the biodiesel purification project) , you will work at the University of Technology (DH Bach Khoa). This is a good chance for you to be exposed to a different environment.
+ Every week we will have a weekly group meeting (about 1-hour long) . This is the only time we physically meet .
+ We will mainly communicate online (email, google docs and other online tools)
+ If you have ideas other than those in the listed projects, please feel free to discuss them with me. If you can convince me, it is likely that we will have a very interesting project.
+ Sending your transcript is optional if you are the first-year student. I just want to learn in detail about your background. In addition, doing research is different from solving a problem in class. Specifically, you are the first one to find the "answer"; thus even your grade is not so good, you can be an excellent researcher/scientist if you are curious, highly motivated and work hard.
+ Your statement of purpose and the CV is a must.
Once again, thank you for your interest in joining my research group. If you have any question, please do not hesitate to let me know.
With kind regards,
HKLam
Dear all,I hope this email finds you well.It has been a while since my open-lab seminar (dated Sept. 21th, 2012). So far I got quite a number of applications for such openings. Due to some unexpected businesses and some setting-up issues in my research group, I haven't follow up this matter until now. My apology!I attached to this email the ppt file (in pdf format) that I presented in the Sept. seminar (with some small modifications) regarding the recruitment for the research assistant positions. If you have any question, please do not hesitate to let me know.Deadline for submitting applications: November 17th, 2012Decision announcement: November 19th, 2012Once again thank you for your interest in joining my research group. With kind regards,HKLamPS: For those who did send your application, you do not have to resend it.
