Dear All,
A cynical person would render Easter as just a Christian commandeering of a pagan holiday. After all, the word "Easter" predates Jesus, and the lunar cycle determines its date. And, what's up with the eggs?
But, face it, we love this holiday. It's the original mother's day, and a chance to reunite, cheaply travel to beaches south, be merry, and/or renew hope. There's nothing wrong with paying homage to spring, and if the Christians believe that Jesus is the divine clarification to this mystical process, I have no quarrel. Plus, its commercialization has been mild. Also, let's give it up to Passover. Everyone should suffer a little before rocking vernally.
So, this Sunday, if you're here in this latter-day Sodom and Gomorrah we call Greenpoint and Williamsburg, kick it over at the
Greenpoint Reformed Church for their 1st Annual Easterpallooza, or some shit like that. It will be a great way to honor this holiday and tradition. Fun and meaning for everyone! Music, Food, Dancing, Photobooth, and Jesus.
Straight from our Good Paster Ann:
