Sunday Ed Kwong was transferred to Stanford. The doctors here at El Camino have identified a fungal infection in the sphenoid sinus (nose sinus) that is the cause of the complications that led to the bleed in his brain. Fortunately, they have found the source, and they know how to proceed. Pastor Ed needs surgery to wash out and remove all the fungus in his sinus, so that it will not grow and cause further issues. This fungal growth is why his eye has had problems the last two months, and it is critical to remove it before it causes further damage. There will be a critical care transfer team that takes care of Dad in the ambulance to transfer him from El Camino to Stanford. There, they will have an ENT (ear-nose-throat) doctor as well as a neurosurgeon, and a very well-equipped team to handle Dad's case. We are anticipating that they will perform the sinus surgery later on today, however, we have not discussed the procedure with the doctors at Stanford yet. We will continue to keep you updated.
Please pray for: Smooth, safe procedure to remove all fungus in the sinus, and no complications - no further bleeding, no herniation of the brain matter, no damage to the brain whatsoeverThe operating team to have wisdom, coordination and clarity during the procedureSmooth transition from El Camino CCU to Stanford ICUgood communication between doctors and family members and nurses, no confusion during the transitionSwift recovery, both neurologically and
surgically
