My dear English congregation family,

My family and I wish you all a wonderful holiday season.  We wish you a blessed Christmas and New Year!Change is a natural and vital part of a church life.  Year 2013 has been a roller coaster ride.  It has been fun to say the least.  I have come to reflect upon year 2013 and I can certainly conclude that it was a year of change.  Of course we had a change in church senior leadership. And there were quite a few changes within the English Ministry this past year as well: change of leadership in various ministries, Sunday school ministry structure, new Joint Bible Study for ES, new women retreat format, new Saturday afternoon prayer meeting, new Beta ministry, and new community outreach ministry.  These are all good changes and in fact it is healthy to see changes being made.  It is healthy because it leads to growth and learning.  In our case, it really did!

In this past year, we have grown together as a church body.  Praise the Lord!  We can see what God has done in the lives of our brothers and sisters.  And growth happens in us and in our congregation.  We can also see this in various ministries: more people getting involved in Alpha ministry, people are much more eager to attend Sunday school classes, stronger leadership in women’s ministry, growing college/young adult ministry, and above all a stronger sense of reaching out to our communities for Christ.  These are snapshots of what God is doing in the lives of our congregation and in the English Ministry as a whole.  This is not what we have accomplished but this is where God’s blessings are in 2013.

There are still much for us to learn as a congregation.  We are learning to focus our attention on God in our worship service.  We are also learning how to pray in our prayer ministry.  On top of that, we are also learning how to mobilize more people to get involved in outreach and short term missions.  We have much to learn but I do pray that we will have the willingness to change, to grow, and to learn as we seek God together in this coming year.  I can surely see that we can grow together with unity and with one focus – to glorify God in all we do.

May God bless you and bless all our families as we head into year 2014 together, another year where God will continue to lead us as one body for His glory.

His servant,Pastor clement Wong
