On March 22nd I will be shaving my head with 4 other members of my team, 3 of them are WOMEN! This cause is vitally important to us as we all have friends and family members who have fought childhood cancer. We ask for your support by donating to our team and helping us meet our ambitious goal of raising $20,000 before the event on March 22nd 2014.

Children's cancers are different from adult cancers and childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. Every 3 minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer. Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers. Our goal  is to move towards a day when no parent will ever have to suffer the loss of any child to this horrible disease.

Last week I received an email from St. Baldrick's, the company organizing the fundraising & head shaving events nation wide. This email struck right to my core because it was about a little boy that is just like my amazing sweet nephew Luke who is absolutely amazing, filled with energy and totally in love with Legos & Star Wars. He has ignited the kid inside of both Bobby and I and we are constantly on the prowl for awesome new toys and Legos for him. Just the thought of something happening to him makes my heart stop momentarily.

below is the email I received. I hope it touches your heart the way it touched mine. if you wish to donate to our cause you can do so here:  http://www.stbaldricks.org/participants/mypage/662668/2014

Thank you for funding lifesaving childhood cancer research. Your donation helps kids fight cancer — kids like Luke.

At 3 years old, Luke was diagnosed with one of many childhood cancers — rhabdomyosarcoma. With his particular diagnosis and stage, his mom says Luke’s chance of survival was “too low to even mention.” But after 70 weeks of grueling treatment, and 2 years off treatment, Luke is now 7 years old and cancer free.

Donations like yours make this possible. You help make St. Baldrick's the world’s largest private funder of childhood cancer research grants, giving more than $24.5 million in new grants in 2013. See the impact of your donation, learn more about how you can help, or follow the fundraising progress of any participant, team, or event.

We asked Luke what he’d like to say to you, and he didn’t mention cancer. He just said, “Thanks for giving me the chance to build more Legos!”

From him and thousands of other infants, children, teens and young adults fighting cancer, thank you.
