Yay! Kickball! I will be sending emails out weekly about the
upcoming events. We can easily log all of the comments and things on
the this group page.

PLEASE LET YOUR TEAMMATES KNOW ABOUT THE EVENTS. They are all really
fun and relatively cheap to do.
Saturday, May 8th- Kellie's Karaoke @Mick's
May 16th- Social. Finn's will be serving food for free!
Saturday, May 22nd- Kickball Karaoke @ Mick's
May 23rd- Dues are Due= $425 team

The day of the Social we will also be having some sort of charity
event as well. We are working on getting food donated from Juan's
that would be then $5/plate and go to our new charity:
waterislife.org. We will also be attempting to have a type of
"celebrity bartending" day, where all tips will go to charity.

If you know of anyone who would be interested in manning the beer tap
thing for 1/2 hour shifts, please let me know. Or if someone wants to
sit there all day, that would be well respected.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION!
-Lesley

That should read $475 team as they always have been.  Sorry for the confusion.

Yes!  waterislife.com.  Check it out because there are a lot of projects that can be done!

To clarify the "celebrity bartending" day, Dylan (Keg Leg) of the Furies, can donate kegs of NOLA brew for us to give out and collect tip money for bartenders serving them (at no cost of course).  All of the tips will all go to this charity!  This isn't to regulate anything, but merely a new idea on how for us as kickballers to reach out by doing what we do best: drinking beer! I think it is only fitting that beer will be a gateway to bringing people water.

Basically, we will partner with a village around the world and work on building them a well that is pumped by a children's merry-go-round.  This way, we will have a direct line into making a difference in the lives of others through water!  Here is the list that we can choose from in Ghana or Kenya:

GHANA – 230 communities in Northern Ghana – Tolon Kumbungu District

Grumani – 5024 pop.

Tali Zoo Lan Yili – 1263 pop.

Tolon Yipe Ligu – 3854 pop.  PARTNERED Verrado Schools

Chirifoyili – 4243 pop.

Kurivoho Yili – 269 pop.  PARTNERED Mom’s Morning In – Lee’s Summit

Kpaachi Yili – 1172 pop  PARTNERED Odyssey Preparatory Academy

Namdu – 1054 pop.

Zali – 786 pop.  PARTNERED Summit Community Church

KENYA – Nairobi and Kisumu Area

Mji Wa Haruma – 4000 pop.

Kisumu – Kidiju Primary School  PARTNERED Verrado Elementary School
Kisumu, Kano District – Schools to be determined
Kakamega, Kenya – Mungavo Primary School and Kaptien Primary School

I wanted to clarify for all the team captains about the charity stuff.  I understand that this may not be something that you feel personally committed to, but we are still working on it.

The events committee just thought that this would be a good charity for all of us since clean water is such a commodity. The other reason is that this charity actually will send a team (which you can join) to go to the place where we decide our money goes (directly) and we can see the impact through pictures, follow ups, emails, etc. I personally like the fact that we can choose who we want to give our money to. We could donate money to Haiti for improving their water infrastructure after the devastating earthquake, and it would go through this charity.

This charity isn't set in stone, but it helps us have a tangible goal. Suggest some and we can vote on them at the end of the year, and even split up some of the money between several different organizations. We could do 10% cancer research, 20% Haiti, 20% Tennessee, 30% to the Neighborhood Story Project (local non-profit that works with schools on creating books made by the kids) so on and so forth. The whole point is just for all of us to get excited about giving back and actually do it.
