Office of Career Development (OCD)

University of Michigan Ross School of Business


OCD's Career Counseling Center (CCC) is located within the Business
School's Library and is the nerve center for career counseling and
workshops. A combination of staff and career counselors deliver all
services offered by the CCC. The career counselors are second-year
MBA and BBA students who serve as industry or functional experts. The
staff serves more as generalists and provides valuable information on
various aspects of the recruiting process from self-assessment to
negotiating a job offer.


PRIMARY FUNCTION(S)

· Represent OCD to current students and alumni, faculty, non-
business school students, and business school representatives. Serve
as first point of contact for students in the Career Counseling Center
with career related inquiries. This position reports to the Program
Coordinator.


DUTIES

· Advise students on scheduling counseling appointments,
handout resources available. Answer and direct all questions as
appropriate.

· Organize counselor appointments: monitor daily schedules;
greet students in office; maintain appointments on iMpact
(cancellations, attendance, and feedback surveys); give general
information regarding the Office of Financial Aid hours of operation.

· Perform daily administrative tasks (e.g., data entry of
counselor feedback, answer/direct incoming phone calls and emails,
maintain supply of career resource handouts, monitor the process for
checking out CCC resources)

· Advertise Career Counseling Center services, workshops, and
events.

· Assist team on special projects as assigned including
compilation of biannual resume book publication.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/ NECESSARY

· Professional demeanor and excellent oral and written
communication skills.

· Ability to work professionally with the public and serve as a
representative of the Business School and the Office of Career
Development with a variety of audiences.

· Deep dedication to customer service at all levels

· Ability to multi-task in a busy office environment

· Basic Microsoft Office knowledge (Word, Outlook, Excel)

· Able to work 20-40 hours a week (flexible)


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Office/front desk experience

· Previous experience in career services

· Experience with University of Michigan and Business School
staff and procedures

· Knowledge of and experience in the iMpact system.
