pediatricians

Could anyone recommend a good pediatrician? We have our health
insurance through the school and there are so many pediatricians to
pick from-- I don't know where to start!

I personally love Dr. Holly Kim at Child Health Associates.  She is really knowledgeable and has fantastic bedside manner with my kids (as well as my husband and me)!  I have been to CHA a couple of times with sick kids, and I have always been able to get an appointment right away and the doctors I have seen when Dr. Kim isn't in have been equally wonderful.  I actually got this recommendation from another partner last year, and I went for it without a ton of research being that I knew we would only be here for two years.  Now, I can honestly tell you I will be really, really sad to leave her in April.  I have heard raves about her from other people, so I know my kids are not the only fantastic patients of hers. :)

 

I can't say from personal experience, but I hear great things about Liberty Pediatrics, and although it is tough to get newborns in there, I think you might not have any trouble with your older daughters.

 

I looked through the ArborParents Yahoo! group, and some other names that have come up as recommendations in a more Family Practice setting are Dr. Krieger (not sure where), Dr. Sandvig at West Ann Arbor Health Clinic and Dr. LeDesai at the East Ann Arbor Health Clinic (both through U-M).  Another person recommended a Dr. Sickels ( http://drsickels.com/) as a family practitioner.  Other pediatricians at CHA that I saw recommended were Dr. Gold and Dr. Popper.

 

I hope this list at least gets you started, Kelly!  If you have more specific requests (i.e. want a doctor good with a specific condition, certain beliefs about vaccinations, etc.) I would send a note to the MBA Kids group or the ArborParents Yahoo! group (and check the archives in both places).
