Subject: [Mech 09] Second project for MEL 420 (TQM)
To:
iitdme...@googlegroups.comDear all,
Following are the instructions related to the next project in TQM
Contact schools in delhi and seek appointment with the principal and
request him/her to allow you to interact with the teachers and
students (preferably 9th and 10th standard).
This will give you access to three of the stakeholders namely school,
teachers and students.
As you will not be able to talk to the parents, take inputs from the
teachers and the principal about what would the parents expect. This
will, to some extent, take care of the fourth stakeholder i.e.
parents.
Record the stakeholder requirements in whatever form is available to
you. Figure out the acceptable performance measures for the
requirements (i.e. how to measure if the expectations are met) and the
expected level of performance against these performance measures.
If they are not able to quantify (which is very likely), you should
record their qualitative responses and later convert them in to
objective measures.
The focus should be on the expected quality from the PSS (as this is
the central theme of the course). The business model aspect can be
included as well.
The visit should be made this week. No two groups should visit the
same school. You can try different schools including the Kendriya
Vidyalayas (KV). KV IITD is not to be visited as they have only up to
5th standard.
I want you to mail me the contact details of the school and the
principal which will be used to confirm your interaction. The visits
should be made before the mid sem break.
During your visit, request the principal for permission to pass on
his/her cell or phone number to me for verification and that ask
him/her if it is Ok if I call him/her for verification.
Most importantly, be extremely polite as they are helping us and not
the other way round.
You should summarize the findings in the form of a report, which can
be done later. In the meanwhile I will search for some publishers with
whom you can interact.
