- Women in Bhatti Mines use traditional stoves which produce a lot of smoke and causes Indoor Air Pollution
- Nearly 2 million people die from illness attributable to Indoor Air Pollution. Many more suffer from eye irritation and respiratory problems
- Nearly 50% of pneumonia deaths among children under five are due to Indoor Air Pollution.
- Women have been sexually assaulted while collecting firewood. They are also at risk of head and spinal injuries
Enactus IITD intervenes
- We are working with 5 women from the community who will manufacture smokeless stoves designed by Philips.
- These stoves with chimney and soot collector cut down Indoor Air Pollution by 48 %
- Cooking time is reduced by half and wood collection time is reduced by 66%
- Profits from sales of the stove will make the 5 women financially independent
The community needs
your support.
They cannot afford these improved stoves at current prices.
Your contribution will help subsidize these stoves and make them affordable.
We
need to create innovative financing schemes to
help adoption, buy moulds to meet the demand of stoves and market the
stove at a large scale. The lack
of funds is slowing down the project execution, causing delays and limiting the scope of the project. We have partnered with
WishBerry and have launched a
crowd funding campaign.
We are not just an NGO, we are a passionate group of social entrepreneurs who
have envisioned to create an opportunity for these people so that they
can help themselves.
Your contribution can "Spark A Stove" and help these people lead a smoke-free and happy life
