Flexing it is an online platform that connects professionals and organisations with regards to projects, consulting assignments and other types of short-term, part-time and flexible work structures.

We provide an organised way for the demand and supply of flexible skills to be made transparent and ultimately connect. This is a white space in India today.

The kinds of opportunities our platform focuses on span project-based work and consulting assignments, to fractional CFOs/CMOs, to defined days a week and part-time options. The interface -  www.flexingit.com - went live in October 2012 and already has over 750 professionals and 85+ leading organisations registered. 60% of the professionals registered bring 10 or more years of experience, and are well represented across functions and industries. The organisations using the platform range from exciting start-ups, to industry leaders, to organisations in the social space.

Flexing It caters to people with experience who care deeply about their professional life and being valued fairly, but want to be creative in terms of how they execute against it. Growth is important, as is compensation unlike the more traditional notions of part time/temp work. Flexing It looks to provide professionals the ability to craft a great portfolio of work at the pace they want

For organisations, Flexing It is a great way to obtain skilled resources for the duration and intensity needed. We provide a mechanism to access real skills while retaining a nimble and flexible cost structure!

Flexing It has been founded by Chandrika Pasricha, who has 15 years of consulting experience (post an MBA from IIM Bangalore), the bulk of it with McKinsey & Co. Over the past few years she has operated more independently allocating her time to both McKInsey as an external consultant as well as other leading organisations in the development space.

Intern, Product Strategy and Operations

For the first few months of its life, Flexing It has been heavily boot-strapped. Given the extremely positive traction we are seeing we are now adding to the team to launch the next phase of growth. The Intern, Product Strategy and Operations will work on the following areas:

·            Strategically analysing the data and usage patterns and work with the CEO and Manager, Product Strategy to

o   Better segment the base of professional skills – function, industry, skills, experience

o   Better segment the base of opportunities ie companies – sector, size, types of roles

o   Identify emerging ‘sweet spots’ or areas that can be grown aggressively

·            Support development of a strategy and proposition to build out specific company-skill combinations i.e.,

o   Identification of target users

o   Crystallising the proposition for each

o   Developing communications materials as needed

·            Thinking through and developing a blueprint for specific interface-related changes e.g., feedback loop institution, extracting information from LinkedIn etc

·            Undertaking due-diligence and supporting the Manager, Product Strategy in developing plans for phase 2 services to be layered on for both professionals and organisational users

We are looking to bring on 1-2 interns who are analytically oriented plus energised about working in a totally entrepreneurial environment. Strong problem solving skills are a must, as is the ability to work with Excel.  Good communications, both verbal and written are also important.

Given that this is a self-funded start-up, candidates should expect a basic stipend to cover core expenses during the duration of the project. We hope that the experience of working in a start-up will be the real return!
