the propositions in this draft don't seem that we are really interested to make basic changes.
1)While talk of credits, lets first look into whether the way we decide the credits is justified. We decide it through LTP system, this way we wanna say :: "the 'relative' weight of course in deciding the quality of our degree (CGPA) is entirely depending on how much time was given in institute area to the courses"
.. and in my opinion this is wrong. we must think towards having a "expected or suggestive self-study hours related to every course", which would mean to follow a L-T-P-S system.
this would then justify the work done for lab courses(highly excess than expected), home work of MAL and PHL courses, assignments, and distinguish such courses from others like CYL 120 in which one is expected to give very less time at home.
This is important because their is vast range of densities in the content of courses as per time given to them.
2)Also we need to revise the courses one by one, their contents and prerequisites. club more similar courses, distinguish entire lab courses, this makes them dense, but then the new LTPS system would justify it.
this way ppl would be reading at home, lesser number of contact hours (which was one of main problems in student feedback) , more for extra curricular, classes would be dense by the way, practicals would be without useless hours, and people would be knowing the expected time to devote in course beforehand. Also this would be an ease for faculty.
In the present scenario of increased number of students per faculty, this could be a solution.
